Banged Up Abroad: A couple leaves England to go to Chechnya, which has caused widespread displacement of people. The couple comes here to help those that have been plagued by the events of this country. In the process, they were kidnapped by Chechnyan rebels, and were held in captivity for over a year. Jon was cuffed to a radiator, while in another room his girlfriend was being raped. They were eventually released in 1998 when a Russian billionaire helped in their release. It is not known to this day as to how he was able to negotiate their release.
