Cheng Tang, once the promising eldest grandson of the Cheng family, was driven out and nearly killed by scheming enemies. But instead of giving up, he was taken in by Mr. Lin as his live-in son-in-law. Coincidentally, Lin Chuxue, the heroine, was his childhood savior. Though she sees him as only a nominal husband, Cheng Tang hides his true identity, growing stronger and plotting his return to the Cheng family while protecting Lin Chuxue.
